Blanking done at the Shear for pre-processing of flat sheets can accommodate thicknesses up to 1/4" and lengths up to 156"(13ft).

Depending on the requirements of your workpiece, our CNC Punch Press or Waterjet will need to finish off the processing of 2D features to your final workpiece. We may choose to combine Blanking with these other features to streamline the process. (This saves time and money which we pass on to you.)

Guillotine Shear

Our flywheel-type mechanical guillotine shear consists of a shear table, work-holding device to keep the workpiece from moving or buckling while under stress, upper and lower blades which actually do the cutting, and a CNC backgauge to ensure that the workpiece get to the right dimension.

This machine often performs blanking operations for downstream processes, but occasionally simple rectangular parts may be cut directly to size. Taking advantage of the shears flawless cut quality and preventing the need for secondary operations, results in better material yields and labor cost savings.

Turret Punch Press

Our CNC turret punch press uses a large number of standard punch tools including holes of varying sizes, straight edges, commonly-used notches or forming tools.

By using a large number of strokes, with several different tools in turn, a punch press may make a wide variety of parts without specialized tooling. This saves both time and money, enabling rapid prototyping or high volume production without delay.

A typical CNC turret punch has a choice of up to 60 tools in a "turret" that can be rotated to bring any tool to the punching position. A simple shape (e.g., a square, circle, or hexagon) is cut directly from the sheet. A complex shape can be cut out by making many square or rounded cuts around the perimeter.

A punch is less flexible than a waterjet for cutting compound shapes, but faster for repetitive shapes.

Waterjet

A water jet cutter is an industrial tool capable of cutting a wide variety of materials using an extremely high-pressure jet of water, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. Abrasive jet uses of a mixture of water and garnet to cut hard materials such as metal, stone, or glass. While water-only cutting without the use of added abrasives can be utitizled for softer materials such as wood or rubber.

Waterjet cutting is often the preferred method when the materials being cut are sensitive to the high temperatures generated by other methods, such as plastic and aluminium; as there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ). Minimizing the effects of heat allows metals to be cut without warping, affecting tempers, or changing intrinsic properties.

The garnet abrasive is a non-toxic material that can be mostly recycled for repeated use; otherwise, it can usually be disposed of in a landfill. ---add in keystone recycling infromation and certs
